Kiwi is my favorite fruit. While I focus on nutritional aspects below, my love of kiwi is mostly motivated by the flavor and texture. I’m just being honest here!
I have read that kiwi is considered the healthiest fruit there is, up there with blueberries, and both have low amounts of poison residue even when you buy the conventional (read: poisoned) variety.
With almost as much potassium as a banana, more vitamin C than an orange, it’s hard to beat these…..but did I mention the kiwifruit oil also has omega 3 fatty acids? Kiwi are low in calories and, like most plant-based foods, also supply some calcium.
Of course apples are in abundance right now, but I’m in favor of mixing it up and adding a variety of fruits to the mix – it makes for a healthy snack. Or dessert. Add some nuts and a coconut-agave-lime dressing and you’ve got lunch.
